Demos Helsinki joins Almedalen Week, Sweden’s largest congregation of minds

Almedalen is an annual week-long political festival unlike anything else in the world. Held on the gorgeous island of Visby, the event brings together the greatest thinkers in everything from politics to business to activism. Some 30,000 people gather to hear the talks.

Fores and Demos Helsinki will stage an inspirational discussion in Almedalen this year on life after internet of things: ‘Internet of No Things.’

Transportation without vehicles. Democratic societies without votes. Energy companies without energy
. Internet of things is not the big transformation. That is what comes after it, when physical things no longer matter.

Sensor and data abundance. Increased human capabilities. Technology as commons. Internet of no things is the biggest societal change and productivity leap since the industrial revolution.

How can we leapfrog the current development with the strengths of Nordic values, data-driven platform business models and cheap, energy-harvesting breakthrough technologies?

We envision a hyper-connected society with beauty in efficiency, trust, the human rights, and silent respective coliving. Come learn what you need to know and do in the forthcoming transition: our expert panelists will explore sustainable lifestyles, disruption in business, the new privacy and paradigms of security.
