Christopher Rowley, Researcher, Project Manager
Christopher Rowley is a social scientist specialising in conflict and the social norms that govern violence. At Demos Helsinki, Christopher is working as a researcher in the Democracy and Capabilities team.
Previously, Christopher has worked as a research assistant and teacher of global politics. At the moment, he’ also one of the editors of a Finnish-language foreign policy online journal, The Ulkopolitist.
Before returning to Helsinki last year, Christopher spent a total of four years in London. There, he completed a degree at LSE (BSc International Relations) and King’s College London (MA International Conflict Studies).
Christopher is particularly interested in the intersection points between security and philosophy. What kinds of norms regulate violence, and how? Can particular values or manners of thought create insecurity?
In the future, Christopher would like to conduct further research in the political philosophy of resistance. In his free time, Christopher enjoys running, swimming and cooking.
